We recently had a terrible situation in our neighborhood where a young mother was
followed home from the post office, abducted from her home (some how managing to secure
her 6month old and 2 year old in her home before being taken) to the home of her abductor,
raped, then taken bound, in his car drove to his uncle for a gas can, shovel and flash
light, during which time she some how was able to dial his phone to make a 911 call.
Unfortunately she was not found until days later in a shallow grave with a bullet hole
in her head.
This story was so sad and so disturbing to me. I just can't imagine how horrific it
must be for all of her family.
Laying in bed night after night and not able sleep for days thinking what that poor
girl must have gone thru.
One day I was driving home and passed near where her body was found and I thought GEESE
something horrible could be happening to my wife right now and I would not know. When we
first moved to our current neighborhood my wife called while I was working in St. Pete
about 70 mile away saying some strange looking guy was at the door wanting to come in even
coming to the side door. I told her to let no one in.
I have since put a fence around our yard with a electric gate and we also now have a
German Sheppard who loves and will not allow anyone to get near my wife.
I decided then that I was going to teach my wife to handle a gun.( I think it is so sad
that we have to even think this way) she is very much against guns. but after this
experience she was beginning to think maybe that is not such a bad idea.
A friend of mine is a North Port Cop, I talked with him often he was not happy about my
plan to arm my wife with a gun.
He suggested I look into the new taser
